Description
Lum is the central character of Urusei Yatsura, the manga and anime series created by Rumiko Takahashi. An alien princess from the planet Oniboshi, she comes to Earth after becoming involved with Ataru Moroboshi, a human teenager whose impulsive choices set the story in motion. Lum’s attachment to Ataru and her life among humans provide a recurring source of comedy and romantic complications throughout the series.
As an Oni alien, Lum is known in the story for her ability to fly and generate powerful electric shocks. Her identity as an extraterrestrial princess shapes many of the series’ comic situations, while her relationship with Ataru remains a central thread. Urusei Yatsura blends science-fiction ideas with romantic comedy and slapstick, drawing on a lively cast of humans and visitors from beyond Earth. The franchise is also known by its Japanese title, Urusei Yatsura, and its English-language title, Those Obnoxious Aliens.
