Description
Botan is the cheerful spirit guide who introduces the afterlife to Yusuke Urameshi in Yu Yu Hakusho, the manga and anime series created by Yoshihiro Togashi. Serving the Spirit World, she ferries souls across the river to the afterlife and helps explain the rules that govern the boundary between the human world and the supernatural. Her work brings her into close contact with Yusuke after his unexpected death sets the story in motion, and she remains a recurring presence as his new responsibilities unfold.
Although Botan has an official role as a guide, she is also an active helper to Yusuke and his companions. She carries messages and information between the human world and the Spirit World, and her involvement connects the series’ afterlife mythology with its action-driven adventures. Her upbeat manner and practical support offer a distinctive counterpoint to the danger and uncertainty faced by the characters, while her position gives her insight into supernatural matters that ordinary humans cannot easily access.
This gallery brings together 70 images of Botan, with art by Ponchoman. Yu Yu Hakusho is also known by its Japanese title, Yu Yu Hakusho, and is often referred to in English as Ghost Fighter. For viewers revisiting the classic shonen series or looking for character-focused Botan art, this collection centers on one of the story’s key links between the living world and the realm of spirits.
