## Kana Kojima: The "Demon Teacher"
In the ecchi-comedy series **Why the Hell Are You Here, Teacher!?** (*Nande Koko ni Sensei ga!?*), **Kana Kojima** is the iconic first heroine and the face of the franchise. Known as the "Demon Teacher" (Oni-no-Kojima) at Kawanuma West High School, she is feared by students for her strict demeanor, but her private life tells a much more chaotic story.
### Personality: The Gap Moe Queen
The core of Kana’s character is the massive contrast between her professional persona and her actual personality.
* **The Strict Professional:** In the classroom, she is cold, authoritative, and terrifyingly efficient. She takes her job seriously and doesn't tolerate any slackers.
* **The Clumsy Airhead:** Once she is out of the public eye—or accidentally finds herself in a compromising situation with her student, Ichiro Sato—she becomes incredibly flustered and prone to extreme bad luck. This "Gap Moe" (the charm of unexpected traits) makes her a favorite among fans.
* **Hidden Softness:** Despite her nickname, Kana is a deeply caring person who wants the best for her students. Her strictness often stems from her earnest desire to see them succeed.

### The "Coincidence" Magnet
Kana is famous (or infamous) for her supernatural ability to end up in absurd, highly suggestive situations with Ichiro.
* **Lethal Clumsiness:** Whether it's getting stuck in a laundry machine, a public bath, or a locker, Kana’s life is a series of "how did this even happen?" moments.
* **Romantic Development:** While the series is high on fanservice, the relationship between Kana and Ichiro actually evolves into a genuine, sweet romance. She eventually moves past her embarrassment to realize she has real feelings for him, leading to one of the most definitive endings for a couple in the series.
### Role in the Narrative
As the first teacher introduced, Kana set the template for the entire series. She represents the "Standard" to which all other teachers are compared.
* **The Trendsetter:** Her arc established the formula of a feared/respected teacher being brought down to earth by a student through a series of "unfortunate" events.
* **End-of-Series Presence:** Even after her specific arc ended and the story moved on to other teacher-student pairings, Kana remained the most popular character, often appearing in cameos or special chapters to check in on her progress with Ichiro.
### Why She Stands Out
Kana Kojima is more than just a fanservice character; she is a relatable adult who is trying her best to maintain a "perfect" image while being a total mess behind the scenes. Her journey from the terrifying "Demon Teacher" to a happily married woman is a satisfying arc that anchors the series’ more over-the-top elements.
