## Kotoko Ijichi: The "Pure" Gyaru
In the heartwarming rom-com **Gals Can't Be Kind to Otaku?** (*Otaku ni Yasashii Gal wa Inai!?*), **Kotoko Ijichi** is one half of the series' core duo. While her friend Otaman represents the high-energy, trendy *gyaru* style, Kotoko is the "White Gyaru"—gentle, sweet, and surprisingly traditional beneath her flashy exterior.
### Personality: The Caring Soul
Kotoko is the "mother" of the group. Despite her tanned skin and light hair, she is far from the "scary" or "mean" *gyaru* stereotype.
* **The Kindness Trap:** The title of the manga is ironic because Kotoko is **pathologically kind**. She can't stand to see someone left out or struggling, which is what leads her to befriend the protagonist, Seo, a hardcore *otaku*.
* **A "Secret" Nerd:** Kotoko is deeply interested in *otaku* culture herself, though she initially hides it to maintain her social standing. Her passion for anime and games is genuine, and she often geeks out just as hard as Seo once she feels comfortable.
* **The Emotional Anchor:** She is the one who balances out the more chaotic personalities in the series. She is observant, empathetic, and often the first to notice if Seo is feeling insecure or overwhelmed by the *gyaru* world.

### Appearance and Style: The "Natural" Aesthetic
Kotoko represents the **"Sweet Gyaru"** (Sweetie) look, which focuses on a blend of trendy fashion and a soft, approachable aura.
* **Visual Highlights:** She typically has long, flowing blonde or light-colored hair and wears her school uniform with a bit of a "relaxed" flair.
* **The "Gap" in Style:** Her fashion says "popular girl," but her hobbies say "homebody." This visual dissonance is a major part of her charm—she looks like she belongs at a club, but she’d much rather be at home marathon-watching a magical girl series.

### The Dynamic with Seo and Otaman
The heart of the series is the triangle of friendship (and budding romance) between the three leads.
* **The Protective Friend:** Kotoko often acts as a shield for Seo, protecting him from the harsh judgments of other students.
* **The Perfect Duo:** Her relationship with **Otaman** is a highlight; they represent two different "paths" of being a *gyaru*, but their shared love for their hobbies (and Seo) creates a strong, supportive bond rather than a rivalry.
* **Romantic Tension:** Unlike Otaman, who is more forward, Kotoko’s feelings for Seo are often expressed through subtle caretaking and shared quiet moments, making her the "slow-burn" favorite for many readers.
### Why Fans Adore Her
Kotoko Ijichi is a fan favorite because she is **unbearably wholesome**. In a genre that can sometimes be cynical, she is a reminder that people are more than their subcultures. She represents the bridge between "popular" and "nerd," proving that you don't have to choose one or the other—you can be a trendy *gyaru* who is also a kind-hearted *otaku* at heart.
She is essentially the "safety net" of the series—the character that makes everyone (including the reader) feel like they belong.
