Description
As a follow-up to our look at the Gremory household, **Rossweisse** is the ultimate "relatable goddess." While she debuted in the third season (*BorN*), her transition from a divine Valkyrie to a budget-conscious Devil is one of the most entertaining arcs in the series.
## Rossweisse: The Valkyrie of Efficiency (and Discounts)
Originally the personal bodyguard to the Norse All-Father, **Odin**, Rossweisse's life took a sharp turn when she was accidentally left behind in Japan. Stranded and unemployed, she was eventually recruited by Rias Gremory to serve as a **[Rook]**, bringing a much-needed level of discipline—and Norse magic—to the team.
---
### The "Single and Budget-Conscious" Goddess
Rossweisse is defined by the hilarious gap between her elite status and her mundane anxieties.
* **The Perfectionist with Bad Luck:** Despite being a master of Norse magic and incredibly intelligent, she has a chronic lack of luck in her personal life. The running gag regarding her "number of years without a boyfriend" and her tendency to spiral into drunken despair over her single status makes her one of the most human characters in the cast.
* **The Coupon Queen:** Unlike the wealthy Gremory clan, Rossweisse is fiercely frugal. She is obsessed with supermarket sales, 100-yen shops, and saving money—a trait that often leaves the high-class Devils of Kuoh Academy bewildered.
* **The "Straight Man":** In a house full of eccentric and perverted personalities, Rossweisse often acts as the voice of reason, though her own seriousness frequently leads to comedic misunderstandings.
---
### Combat Style: The Tactical Magic Fortress
As a **[Rook]**, Rossweisse possesses the standard traits of immense physical strength and durability, but she layers this with her unique Valkyrie heritage.
* **Norse Magic Circles:** She is a specialist in multi-layered magic. Unlike pilots who fire one beam, Rossweisse can deploy dozens of magic circles simultaneously to unleash an elemental bombardment that can level a battlefield.
* **Defensive Mastery:** Her [Rook] status combined with her Valkyrie armor makes her one of the sturdiest members of the peerage. She often serves as the defensive anchor during Team Gremory’s Rating Games.
* **Teacher and Strategist:** Beyond combat, she serves as a teacher at Kuoh Academy, utilizing her vast knowledge to tutor Issei (with varying degrees of success) and provide tactical analysis during missions.
### Why She’s a Fan Favorite
Rossweisse is beloved because she breaks the "perfect goddess" trope. She is a woman who can face down legendary monsters with a cold, professional gaze, but will absolutely lose her composure if she misses a half-off sale on eggs. She represents the "struggling adult" in a world of high-schoolers, making her a unique and essential piece of the *DxD* ensemble.
