## Sumi Sakurasawa: The Silent Sweetheart
In the often-frustrating world of **Rent-a-Girlfriend** (*Kanojo, Okarishimasu*), **Sumi Sakurasawa** is a breath of fresh air. While the series is known for its high-tension drama and complicated lies, Sumi serves as a sanctuary of pure kindness and earnest effort. A "Rental Daughter" under the same agency as Chizuru, Sumi’s journey is one of the most heartwarming character arcs in the story.
### Personality: The Courageous Introvert
Sumi is defined by her **extreme shyness**. She struggles with a communication disorder so severe that she often communicates through nods, handwritten notes, or tiny, adorable squeaks.
* **The "Gambler" of Socializing:** Despite her fear, she chose to become a Rental Girlfriend specifically to force herself to overcome her social anxiety. This shows an incredible amount of inner strength; she is a girl who is terrified of the world but steps into it anyway to improve herself.
* **Pure Altruism:** Sumi is arguably the most selfless character in the series. Her feelings for the protagonist, Kazuya, are rooted in genuine gratitude and affection. She often puts aside her own romantic desires to support him and Chizuru, acting as a "Guardian Angel" for their relationship.

### Role in the Narrative
Sumi acts as a **emotional healer**. Whenever Kazuya is at his lowest point or feeling overwhelmed by the drama of the other three main heroines, Sumi provides a judgment-free space.
* **The "Practice" Dates:** Her initial role was to use Kazuya as a "practice client" to improve her social skills, but these dates quickly turned into genuine moments of growth for both of them.
* **The Spin-off Star:** Her popularity was so great that she received her own spin-off manga, *Kanojo, Hitomishirimasu* (*Rent-A-(Really Shy!)-Girlfriend*), which explores her daily life and internal monologues.
### Why Fans Adore Her
Sumi is the "Pink" archetype done right—soft, sweet, and incredibly sincere. In a narrative filled with calculated moves and hidden agendas, Sumi’s honesty is her superpower. She reminds the audience that communication isn't just about speaking perfectly; it's about the effort made to connect with someone else. She is the gold standard for "must protect" characters, proving that even the quietest voice can have the loudest heart.
